Researchers carry out first peer-reviewed study of fecal microbiota transplants in dolphins

A recent study led by NMMF veterinarian, Dr. Barb Linnehan, examined the use of fecal microbiota transplants to treat dolphins with gastrointestinal disease. This study was a collaborative, interdisciplinary project, working with the Gilbert Lab at UCSD School of Medicine and Scripps Institution of Oceanography to examine the safety and efficacy of using healthy dolphin feces to treat dolphins with GI disease.
