
Melinda Martens got her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from North Carolina State University in
2012. During her undergrad she spent a summer interning at the Dolphin Research Center, which has
given her a passion for marine mammals as well as experience in marine mammal care. She worked for 5
years as a veterinary assistant before getting her veterinary technician license and joining the National
Marine Mammal Foundation in 2019. Melinda loves learning, and teaching others, about marine
mammal care and conservation.
